THE FAMILY EVENT REMAINED INCIDENT-FREE.

After a comprehensive review of the Assou Square 2020 event, Mayor of Castries, His Worship Peterson D. Francis is applauding key stakeholders for their role in making the event a success.

At a post mortem press conference attended by representatives of the Saint Lucia Fire Service, Castries Constituency Council and the Royal St. Lucian Police Force, an assessment of the various operational aspects gave a clear indication that despite the high numbers in attendance, no incidents were recorded.

Speaking at the forum, His Worship, Mayor Peterson D. Francis and CEO Mr. Wilfred Pierre shared the view that more can be done to elevate the fair.

CEO Mr. Wilfred Pierre said the council is looking to improve the activity by reintroducing traditional features.

The two-day Assou Square was produced by the Castries Constituency Council and supported by PCD Distribution, telecommunications giant Flow, Busta Chill (distributed by SMJ Beverages), and the Government of Saint Lucia. PCD Brand Manager, Tamara Edmunds, who presented a sponsorship cheque at the press conference, expressed commitment toward future partnerships.

“We offer our sincere thanks to the Castries Constituency Council for inviting us to partner on Assou Square 2020 and look forward to strengthening our relationship in the upcoming year. Peter and Company Distribution will continue to partner with communities throughout the island to support projects which uplift and unify our people to be proud, passionate and strong Saint Lucians,” she said.

Press and Communications Manager, Jason Hullingseed, said the responsibility of the Castries Constituency Council to be the producers of Assou Square will result in a major enhancement of the event in the coming years.

“The numbers in attendance were encouraging,” he said. “It also highlights the efficiency of the brand we have created at the Castries Constituency Council. I believe that a new vision with innovative dimensions is needed while we continue the marriage of culture and tradition.”
