Saint Lucia and the Kingdom of Belgium enhance and strengthen a mutually beneficial and strategic partnership.

Newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Guy Sevrin presented his credentials to Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, last week.

Dame Pearlette emphasized on the maturity of the relationship between Saint Lucia and Belgium since 1980, when diplomatic relations were established.

“Saint Lucia has noted your government’s recent policy on development aid and assistance, and more particularly your focus on the development of strategic partnerships with the Latin American and Caribbean region based on what it has described as “common socio-cultural and humanistic values. On this basis, we are pleased to note that Belgium has indicated that there is room for a more active policy with the region in the diversification of its capital investments in the areas of science, technology and innovation.”

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Guy Sevrin expressed his commitment to the success of the mission in Saint Lucia.

“It is in this spirit of further strengthening and establishing closer and more intense relations between our two countries that I am happy and honored to undertake today, the task bestowed upon me by his Majesty of the Kingdom of Belgium, and I will be most honored, Your Excellency if you could be assured of my total dedication to the success of my mission.”

Saint Lucia and the Kingdom of Belgium first established diplomatic relations 35 years ago.
