The CCC and the NWU will meet on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 p.m.

Workers attached to the Sanitation and Works Department at the Castries Constituency Council (CCC) have gone back to work after what appeared to be strike action.

Workers downed tools on Monday and Tuesday this week without their trade union representative, the National Workers Union, formally informing CCC management of the reason for the industrial action. In light of this, Council’s management put contingency plans in place to maintain services, ensure that all facilities were functioning and streets within the city were kept clean.

Since then, we have received correspondence from the Labour Department summoning the CCC and the NWU to an urgent meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the Labour Department at Barnard Hill.

A statement updating members of the public on the decisions from Thursday’s meeting will be made subsequently.
