Girls United Foundation donates to Ministry of Education

A BURSARY PRESENTED BY THE FOUNDATION WILL SUPPORT THE RETURN TO HAPPINESS PROGRAMME AND OTHERS.

The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development experienced an early feel of Christmas due to a generous donation of toys and devices from the Girls United Foundation (Saint Lucia chapter).

A bursary was also presented by a representative of the foundation. Education officials say the proceeds will go toward supporting the Return to Happiness Programme, and several others. The Return to Happiness Programme provides in-school support for students who have experienced trauma. The programme will include students made newly-vulnerable as a result of  the economic fallout of COVID-19.

Minister for Education, Hon. Dr. Gale T.C. Rigobert, thanked the organization profusely for its philanthropy, its continued relationship with Saint Lucia and for remembering home, despite emigrating to other countries.

The Girls United Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the lives of women and girls. Its vision is to assist enriching women and girls in education, health, personal development, mentorship, leadership, and various other skills.

The foundation assists in the areas of settlement and integration services, women empowerment, newcomer, immigration, housing, employment support services. Its outreach services include advocacy for women and girls, family support groups, housing referrals, mental health workshops, healthy eating and nutrition training, employment readiness and financial literacy.

The foundation provides these services at no cost.
