THE BALL BENEFITS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH THE AUCTION OF LUXURY ITEMS.

The Government of Saint Lucia hosted the third annual Prime Minister's Independence Ball on Saturday, Feb. 23. The event is part of the celebratory activities held to mark Saint Lucia’s 40th anniversary of Independence.

In the past, the ball, through auctions of luxury items, has benefited the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association, Cornerstone House, the Children’s Home at Ciceron, the Saint Lucia School of Ballet and Modern Dance, and the Upton Gardens Girls Centre.

The event welcomed several diplomatic allies, the business community, and Saint Lucians who wanted to make a contribution toward a worthy cause.

This year, the ball featured performances from a number of talented Saint Lucians including the Royal Saint Lucia Police Band, Barbara Cadet, Shannon Pinel, and Ronald “Boo” Hinkson. In addition, young entrepreneurs Johanon Dujon and Jallim Eudovic made presentations to the audience.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the charitable cause.
