Media session on the implementation of Article 164 Regime

CSME TO COME INTO EFFECT ON APRIL 1.

The Ministry of Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs, will host an interview session today, March 28, at the Ministry of Commerce to discuss the implementation of the Article 164 Regime.

In accordance with a decision of the 74th Special Meeting of the CARICOM Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED), the extension of the Article 164 Regime “Promotion of Industrial Development” of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas Establishing the Caribbean Community including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) is scheduled to come into effect on April 1, 2019. Article 164 provides a regime of support to eligible goods produced in Less Developed Countries (LDCs) of CARICOM including Saint Lucia, on a temporary basis to help boost their competitiveness and their level of participation in intra-regional trade in the CSME.

In this regard, the Ministry of Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs invites you to an interview to discuss the objectives of this regime.

The interview will be held at 10 a.m., at the Ministry of Commerce on the fourth floor in the Heraldine Rock Building, Waterfront.
