WORK ON THE PROJECT IS TO COMMENCE IN THE COMING DAYS.

The Government of Saint Lucia, yesterday, signed a contract for the construction of the Micoud Wellness Centre.

The Micoud Wellness Centre project was initiated in 1992 when then prime minister, Sir John Compton, recognized the need for such a facility. The facility will provide improved services for residents within the constituency and its environs. An improvement in the physical structure and services will also encourage persons to seek healthcare services in the community in which they live rather than seeking more expensive alternatives at the hospitals.

Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet said: “Every Monday for the last three years, there has been one project in particular which Hon. Dr. Gale Rigobert has consistently lobbied for on behalf of the constituents of Micoud (north). This is a project which is well overdue. I look forward to the timely completion of this project and thank the people of Micoud North for their remarkable patience after so many years.”

The project is being executed under the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) which is being financed by the World Bank. The tendering process which ended in September 2019.
