THE SURVEY WILL ASSESS HOW PEOPLE WHO USE PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED UNDER THE RESTRICTIONS.

The Department of Health and Wellness in collaboration with the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (known by its Spanish language acronym, CICAD) of the Organization of American States (OAS) is seeking to implement an important online survey.

On the initiative of the Executive Secretariat of OAS|CICAD, and the Group of Experts on Demand Reduction of CICAD, chaired by Colombia and vice-chaired by Paraguay, and in coordination with the National Drug Commissions and National Drug Observatories, the “Hemispheric Study on Patterns of Consumption of Psychoactive Substances during the COVID-19 Pandemic” is being carried out.

The purpose of the study is to understand what effects COVID-19, and the steps taken by the countries to control the spread of the disease, have on psychoactive substance use patterns and associated factors. The results of this study will be fundamental to addressing the realities, needs, and challenges that the region is facing in the area of drug demand reduction.

The collection of information for the hemispheric study will be done through a confidential and anonymous questionnaire. The questionnaire will look into your experiences over the last few weeks, to get an understanding of how different groups of people who use psychoactive substances have been affected by the restrictions under the current health emergency. This survey is voluntary and you are not obligated to participate, however, if you are willing to participate, you must be 18 years of age or older.
