PM SAYS NATIONAL PROGRESS DEPENDENT UPON MUTUAL EFFORTS.

Saint Lucia’s 40th anniversary of Independence was celebrated on Feb. 22, under the theme “All In: Our Journey, Our Future.”

Prime Minister Hon. Allen M. Chastanet, in his Independence address, encouraged Saint Lucians to stand in unity.

“The theme of this year’s Independence anniversary is a strong call to every Saint Lucian to play a part in pushing our country forward,” he said. “Together as one nation we have achieved much. We are stronger together.”

Prime Minister Chastanet reiterated the government’s commitment to protect and improve the country.

“We must be ready to pilot the restoration of the economic and social fortunes of our country. We are painfully aware that too many Saint Lucians are living in less than ideal circumstances. We need to provide proper health care for all of our people. We need better housing. We need to establish an education system that meets the demands of a modern workplace. Above all, this will take a united effort between government and all Saint Lucians to guarantee safety and security for everyone.”

Mr. Chastanet also paid homage to the service providers and community heroes who serve the country every day.
