NEMO AWAITS PRELIMINARY REPORTS FROM FIRST RESPONDERS.

Dorine Gustave, Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), this morning issued a statement cautioning the public to refrain from venturing out before an offical "all clear" is issued by NEMO.

Ms. Gustave explained that the discontinuation of the tropical storm warning allows for first responders to assess the situation and provide status reports.

"As of 8 a.m. the tropical storm warning for Saint Lucia has been discontinued," she said. "However, an 'all clear' has not been given for anyone to go out. The discontinuation means that first responders can now go out and make an assessment, and then report to NEMO. Thereafter, an all clear will be given."

The Government of Saint Lucia issued a mandatory national shutdown at 6 p.m. yesterday, following a pre-strike meeting of the National Emergency Management Advisory Committee (NEMAC), in preparation for Tropical Storm Dorian.

The release stated Saint Lucia will remain under national shutdown until the “all clear” has been given by NEMO, following assessments by first responders.
