THE INSPECTORS ARE ATTENDING A TRAINING WORKSHOP IN UK IET WIRING REGULATIONS.

Technical Training Solutions (TTS) from Rochester, England is partnering for the fifth time with the Division of Technical Education and Management Studies (DTEMS) of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC), to offer specialised electrical training in BS7671, Requirements for Electrical Installations, 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations and Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.

This partnership is made possible through Mr. Clive Antoine and the Electrical Engineering Experts Inc. of Saint Lucia.  The courses run from Monday, February 25, to March 8, at the LUCELEC Electronics Workshop at the College.

The UK BS7671 Regulations govern electrical wiring in Saint Lucia and other countries such as Saint Vincent, Dominica and Grenada making the certification an important achievement for all Electricians and Electrical engineers who never had that training and those who previously received training for registered/ licensed electrician, engineer status.  Furthermore, the BS7671 course is highly beneficial for Electrical Designers, Installers, Testers and Inspectors; Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Technicians; Mechanical Technicians and Engineers; and Drafters and Architects.

Of the 22 participants taking part in the training there are four Electrical Inspectors from the Ministry of Transport and Works of Saint Vincent, five Technicians and one Engineer from LUCELEC and two Technicians from the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA).  It is expected that there will be more participants from Saint Vincent and the other islands in the next training session scheduled for July of this year.

The courses end with online, short answer and practical examinations. Successful completion of the BS7671 training course and the Inspection and Testing course lead to the City and Guilds Level 3 Awards which is worth UK Education Credits.
