THE PROGRAMS, WHICH STARTED THREE YEARS AGO, HAVE EXPANDED THEIR REACH.

The Minister for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations, and Sustainable Development, who is also the Parliamentary Representative for Micoud (north), Hon. Dr. Gale Rigobert, presented bursaries to students attending school in District 7.

The bursary program started three years ago and has expanded to include primary, secondary and tertiary level students. The program was financed by the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund, the Saint Lucian diaspora and the business community of Micoud (north).

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Representative for Gros Islet, Hon. Lenard Montoute, made a similar contribution of school supplies to students in Gros Islet.

“For the last three years, every child attending school in Gros Islet has received all their notebooks and some school supplies through the constituency office, and the efforts of Saint Lucians both at home and abroad,” Minister Montoute said. “This year, we have expanded the programme by including lunch bags, and added supplies which will specifically go toward less privileged students.

“I want to thank the principals and teachers of the various schools for continuing to work with us to make this a success along with the caring Saint Lucians who continue to contribute to this annual drive.”
