THE ONE-DAY WORKSHOP WILL ADDRESS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR MICRO TOURISM ENTERPRISES.

The Department of Tourism, Information and Broadcasting has collaborated with the Department of Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development, and Consumer Affairs in observance of Business Month 2018, under the theme “Sustainable Enterprises - People, Planet and Profit.”

In light of the theme’s importance to tourism-related establishments, a one-day workshop will be held for 30 micro tourism enterprises from the accommodation, sites and attractions, and water-based, sub-sectors. The main aim of the workshop is to engage participants in meaningful discussion on sustainable business practices which would allow them to remain competitive in the tourism industry.

The Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA) has also partnered with the Department of Tourism for this important initiative.

The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SLHTA’s training room in Rodney Bay. The workshop will include presentations from key resource persons on Human Resource Development, Sustainable Environmental Practices, and Profit Maximization Utilizing Eco-Friendly Technologies.

Saint Lucia Business Month, now into its fourth year, is an initiative geared toward generating awareness of the functions of the Department of Commerce and its affiliate agencies, and their approaches at fostering and promoting enterprise sustainability.

The draft agenda for the workshop is attached.
