THE HOSPITAL IS THE RECIPIENT OF TWO ECHOGRAPH MACHINES DONATED BY THE E-CLUB CARAIBE ASSOCIATION, FROM MARTINIQUE.

Diagnosing illnesses and diseases are an important component of administering effective medical care to patients. A number of tools and techniques have been developed to aid in the proper diagnosis of illnesses and diseases. One such technology is the echograph machine used to diagnose cardiac conditions.

The Victoria Hospital was the recipient of two such machines from the E-Club Caraibe Association out of Martinique.

The Senior Medical Officer, Dr. Shana Cyr-Philbert, said the donation came at an opportune time.

“Over the years Saint Lucia has benefitted tremendously from the goodwill of our sister island Martinique especially in the area of health. We have been able to transfer patients to get services, particularly diagnostic services which we do not offer in Saint Lucia. We are extremely grateful for that. As a ministry, we are now embarking on projects and programs which focus on cardiovascular disease management, noting that non-communicable diseases, specifically cardiovascular diseases, contribute significantly to mortality on island.”

President of the E-Club Caraibe Association, Dr. Charles Saint Cyr said he is pleased that the machines are finally at Victoria Hospital. He hopes that the donation is the beginning of a fruitful relationship with Saint Lucia.

The E-Club Caraibe Association is a service club out of Martinique.
