The Corinth Secondary School triumphed at the 2014 Schools Debate Competition, an event that forms part of the New Beginnings Transit Home's third anniversary celebrations.
The debate was held under the theme "Is Punishment Abuse?"
New Beginnings Transit Home Manager Beverly Ann Poyotte said the competition serves as a method of education and information dissemination.
“We wanted to educate not just the public but also the youth and the schools as to what New Beginnings is, what we do, and the children that we serve; and we wanted to get the other children involved in conducting research on the kinds of ills that are happening in our society,” Ms. Poyotte said.
A total of four Castries area secondary schools participated in the debate competition. The other three were: the St. Joseph’s Convent, the Entrepot Secondary School and the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School.
