The Home Care program looks after vulnerable, abandoned senior citizens.
Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony said greater collaboration is needed between individual senior citizens homes and the Home Care Program for the Elderly.
The Home Care program looks after vulnerable, abandoned senior citizens. Dr. Anthony said this initiative is important to the well-being and protection of the elderly.
“I hope, now that the Home Care Program has been fully established in our communities, that we can have a better sense of exactly who are the ones who are very vulnerable, but at the same time by providing that Home care Program, I hope that those who are beneficiaries of that program would feel that they are now being looked after; they are no longer, desolate or cast aside.
“I know sometimes you can feel a little isolated and forgotten. But I wish you to know that you should never allow those feelings to overwhelm you. You are always on our minds and we are concerned and very deeply appreciative of the work you do.”
The Prime Minister said that strengthening the home care program will enhance the work of senior citizens homes. He also applauded the staff of Comfort Bay for their dedicated service.
The staff presented the Prime Minister and the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom with tokens of gratitude.
