ABOUT THE SIR ARTHUR LEWIS COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, the premier tertiary learning institution in Saint Lucia and the Eastern Caribbean, was established in 1985 and named after the world-famous economist and Nobel Laureate, Sir William Arthur Lewis. The College, which is currently in transition to University status, offers a wide range of cutting-edge and globally relevant academic and technical programmes from Bachelor’s and Associate degrees to TVET and Executive and Leadership training. Our programmes are undergirded by three main pillars: Sustainability, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. These goals are in keeping with the Government of Saint Lucia’s commitment to the implementation of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals.
The College has two campuses (Main Campus at Morne Fortune, Castries and South Campus in Vieux Fort) and an Experimental Farm in Dennery. The College is governed by a Board of Governors and a Management Team led by the Principal/President and Vice Principals. The Management Team includes Deans and Programme Heads that manage the day-to-day operations of the institution, its 130 faculty members and 165 supporting staff members.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of VICE PRINCIPAL, ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.
JOB SUMMARY
The Vice Principal of Administration and Finance, as a senior member of the management team will be responsible for the effective administration and efficient management of the College’s human and financial resources, accounts and record-keeping as well as physical capital and intellectual property. You will also lead a team of Executive and Administrative Staff to uphold service excellence and work in close collaboration with administrative and senior academic staff to achieve the desired educational and financial outcomes.
The Vice Principal of Administration and Finance will oversee the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the College’s administrative and financial services and departments to achieve good financial standing, expand income from government investment, student fees and other sources of income such as grants, consultancies, technical assistance, corporate sponsorships and donations. The role will also involve management of the College’s investments and debt.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have at a minimum:
- A Master’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant certification
- Ten (10) years’ experience in the financial functions of a company
SKILLS AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
- Relevant knowledge and experience in academic finance and administration.
- Experience of e-commerce, online, mobile and digital payment systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of financial, legal and intellectual property best practices and requirements with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical financial counsel to executive leadership.
- Thorough understanding of and personal involvement with systems and methodologies of finance and administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Developing the College’s strategic plan and driving continuous improvement.
- Building collaborative partnerships and active engagement with key stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Administration and Management of Resources
- Overseeing finance, fee collections, procurement, human resources, inventory, and student-related administration and operations to ensure compliance with relevant policies/guidelines and procedures and alignment with College’s strategic plan.
- Allocating and managing resources efficiently to achieve the College’s goals.
- Harnessing Information Technology to increase productivity and enhance processes.
Leadership and Management of People
• Leading and motivating the Administrative Team through promoting a culture of service excellence and growth, by conducting effective performance management and feedback.
Facility and Security Management
- Collaborating with facility management and operations; and incorporating best practices to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
- Ensuring the appropriate security procedures and measures are in place/ready for implementation when required.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
This appointment is a three (3) year contractual position.
The salary will be determined by the qualifications of the applicant and in accordance with the salary scales approved by the College.
Quarters, transportation to and from work, free medical attention and medicines will not be provided. The successful applicant’s income will be liable to taxation in accordance with the local Income Tax Ordinance.
