THE EVENT PROVIDES AN AVENUE TO SHOWCASE SAINT LUCIA’S TALENT TO THE REGION.

The Saint Lucia contingent has arrived in Trinidad and Tobago for CARIFESTA XIV.

With a contingent of 80 individuals, team Saint Lucia is hoping to make a statement with its presentation.

This year’s presentation will include performances of La Woz, and masquerade, as well as the theatrical performance of A Little Folk Tale.

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Hon. Allen Chastanet, previewed the production and expressed contentment with every aspect. He said the group will leave a great impression of the amazing talent which exists in Saint Lucia.

Artistic Director for CARIFESTA’s Team Saint Lucia, Drenia Frederick, said Saint Lucia continues to make successful contributions to the arts in the region, with CARIFESTA being no exception.

“There is a nouveau cultural revolution led by innovation and a renaissance of folklore, with reference to A Little Folk Tale. Invariably, this year’s CARIFESTA presentation is a reflection of the new wave of artistic expression. Our approach is to merge various genres of the performing arts, (arts, craft, culture), foster synergies amongst the more experienced artistes and the younger ones, and showcase a contribution of Saint Lucia’s next generation of performers.”

The Saint Lucia contingent will also receive opportunities to join national delegations from over 20 Caribbean countries to display and improve their talents via workshops and other facets.

The CARIFESTA activities commenced Friday, Aug. 16, and will culminate on Sunday August 25.
