Deferment of policy implementation

THE DATE FOR THE EXTENSION OF ARTICLE 164 REGIME OF THE REVISED TREATY OF CHAGUARAMAS HAS BEEN DELAYED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

The Ministry of Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs advises of the deferment of the implementation date for the Extension of the Article 164 Regime, “Promotion of Industrial Development,” of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, initially set for April 1, 2019, until further notice.

This deferment is essential to allow for completion of procedural matters, by the CARICOM Secretariat, in keeping with the provisions of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas. Once these matters are addressed, the Statutory Instrument will be released with the new date of implementation of the Regime.

The Ministry wishes to advise that until such time, the appropriate tariff rates, in accordance with the Common External Tariff (CET) Regime will apply.
