Daasrean Greene will sign a one year contract as the acting Director of Public Prosecutions.
Daasrean Greene will officially assume the post of acting Director of Public Prosecutions, on Oct. 17.
Minister for Home Affairs, Justice, and National Security, Sen. Hon. Hermangild Francis, said the executive arm of government applauds the Judicial and Legal Services Commission for the appointment.
“We need to put new things in place starting with a DPP. The amount of work he will have to accomplish is going to be a phenomenal task."
Sen. Francis said that despite a significant backlog of criminal cases, the incoming DPP and his staff are up to the challenge.
“The IMPACS Report is one of the most pressing issues that we have presently. The Lambirds Academy case is in a similar vein, and these two will be very problematic for the new DPP. We have said all along that if the new DPP requests that we get a special prosecutor for the IMPACS Report, that the Americans, the EU Government and our government are willing and ready to assist him.”
Daasrean Greene will sign a one year contract. Sen. Francis said government will assess his performance and determine his future in the position in Oct. 2017.
