TRAINING SESSIONS TO IMPROVE STANDARDS OF PRODUCTION.

The Caribbean Secondary Schools Drama Festival, being hosted from November 3 to 9 in Saint Lucia, will see local drama students join their counterparts from Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, and Antigua and Barbuda for an intensive week of training workshops and performances.

During this year’s festival, nearly 100 students, teachers and general practitioners of theatre will exchange skills, experiences and ideas in performance and production, allowing them to improve on their standards of production. Forums to discuss plans for arts education will also be hosted.

The drama festival will be hosted at the National Cultural Centre in Saint Lucia, where nightly performances by students from the participating countries will be adjudicated.

The Festival is now into its 28th year. It was conceptualized by Icil Phillips (Barbados) and Victor Edwards (Trinidad and Tobago) at the University of the West Indies St. Augustine, at an Arts Conference.

Saint Lucia previously hosted the festival in 2007.
