“Our celebration begins immediately after the Festival of Lights,” he said. “It begins at about 11 p.m. with a boulevard jam in the William Peter Boulevard, that will run until 4 a.m.”

National Day Activities will then kick off with the reintroduction of the greasy pole and greasy pig games, canoe racing, and many more traditional activities. It will culminate with a grand display of local talent featuring, local steel pan groups, and artists.

“We want to assure the public that there will be a heavy police presence throughout these events,” Mr. Brown said.

The Office of the Mayor invites the entire nation to participate in the event.
