The National Productivity Awareness Council aimed to instill the concept of productivity among the youth.
As part of Productivity Awareness Week 2015, the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC) recently embarked on a tour of secondary schools to raise awareness of the concept of productivity amongst the youth.
The tour encouraged students to understand the importance of productivity and to inculcate productive practices into their daily lives whether at home or at school.
Event organizer at the NCPC, Geraldine Bicette-Joseph said that it was important to the NCPC to reach as many schools as possible.
"The NCPC felt that it was more than necessary to ensure that the tour covered the whole of the island. There are so many times when students have to make their way up to the north of the island to be a part of national activities, and we wanted to make sure that was not the case. We wanted to visit the students within their own environment."
The tour was hectic, Bicette-Joseph said. The team, which included an NCPC Board Member or Secretariat Staff member and the superhero mascot Super P, visited three schools per day.
"The team educated students about the council and the concepts of productivity and competitiveness," she continued. "Super P then really got the students involved, asking them about their productive habits and giving out tokens to the students who took part. The students seemed to really enjoy the visits and the team enjoyed bringing the message to each and every school."
Other activities scheduled to take place as part of the NCPC’s Productivity Awareness Week are a Public Service Initiative Showcase, a Primary School Productivity Fair, a Competitiveness Enrichment Seminar for Young Entrepreneurs, and a Minibus Association Productivity Session.
Productivity Awareness Week will be observed on Oct 12 - 16.
The secondary schools tour commenced on Sep. 29..
