THE HONORABLE ALLEN CHASTANET CALLS FOR BIPARTISAN SUPPORT IN TACKLING CRIME.

Prime Minister, Hon. Allen Chastanet has called for bipartisan support and participation in helping to stamp out the scourge of violent crime in the country.

The Prime Minister made the appeal during a sitting of the House of Assembly on March 26. The Honourable Prime Minister expressed concern about the involvement of young persons in crime, referencing the killing of a Cedars resident who operated a mini mart in the community, and was shot on March 13 during a robbery at his place of business.

Prime Minister Chastanet also addressed the worrying trend of suicide. He said that now more than ever, there needs to be a national conversation on matters surrounding suicide.

The Prime Minister’s comments were prompted by the death of a 17-year old Dennery resident.
