Prime Minister leads delegation to UAE-Caribbean Cooperation Forum

GOVERNMENT TO FIND COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES IN INVESTMENT, TRADE AND CULTURE.

Prime Minister Honourable Allen M. Chastanet will lead a delegation to the first United Arab Emirates (UAE) Caribbean Cooperation Forum which takes place in Dubai from Nov. 24 to 26.

The aim of the forum is not only to discuss the strategic bilateral relationship but also to find new areas of cooperation and opportunities in the field of investments, trade and culture. The delegation includes Minister for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation, Honourable Guy Joseph, Minister with responsibility for External Affairs, Honourable Sarah Flood Beaubrun, Honorary Consul for Saint Lucia to Lebanon, His Excellency Malek El Sayed, Permanent Secretary in the Department of Finance Ms. Cointha Thomas, Permanent Secretary in the Department of Economic Development Mr. Phillip Dalsou, and Budget Director Mr. Claudius Emmanuel.

The three-day forum will include high level panels to discuss partnerships opportunities with the focus on trade, investments, development and cultural cooperation.

Following the forum, the prime minister will head to Washington to the IMF Headquarters to attend the IMF-World Bank-IDB High Level Conference on Building Resilience to Disasters and Climate Change in the Caribbean on Nov. 26.

In the prime minister’s absence, Minister for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development, Honourable Dr. Gale T. C. Rigobert, will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
