The campaign will inform users of the work to be undertaken, and road safety requirements for the Choc Bay-Gros Islet Road Improvement Project.

With the initiation of the Choc Bay-Gros Islet Road and Secondary Roads Improvement Project slated for this year, Government plans to undertake a public education campaign for proper road use.

The Minister for Legal Affairs, Home Affairs and National Security, Sen. Hon. Victor La Corbiniere said the construction of a four lane dual carriageway, will cause disruption to the normal flow of traffic in the north of the island.

In the spirit of transparency and public education La Corbiniere continued, there will be a public awareness component to the project.

"This would include a public education campaign, to inform road users of the diversion works and the road safety requirements, and of course, the project component must include consultancy services for the preparation of detailed designs, tender documents and the supervision of the work."

The senator stated the importance of the project to the overall development of the island.

“It is part of a wider vision for the government in relation to the improvement of the road structure to facilitate the commute of traffic, and to enable business development, tourism and other types of development in the north of the country."

The project is slated to commence by mid-2015,while completion is expected by 2018.
