EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, MR. JOSEPH ALEXANDER, RETIRES.

The Board of Saint Lucia’s principal multi-sectoral Employers Organization, the Saint Lucia Employers Federation (SLEF), recently bade farewell to its long-standing Executive Director, Mr. Joseph Alexander.  Having led the organization’s Secretariat for the past twelve (12) years, Mr. Alexander retired effective 30th April 2020.

During his tenure, in keeping with the Federation’s objective to maintain industrial stability, Mr. Alexander amicably championed various trade union negotiations across the Federation’s private and parastatal membership, including the hotel and tourism, manufacturing and distributive trade sectors, as well as statutory corporations and the SME sector, amongst others.  He was also instrumental in growing the Federation’s membership by approximately 75% to over two hundred members.  Due to his wealth of knowledge, Mr. Alexander has been a vital resource to members and non-members alike, providing training, labour related guidance and support in the interest of enforcing compliance to the Labour Code.

“Mr. Alexander has contributed immensely to the growth and visibility of the Federation and his absence will surely be felt, which is why I am pleased that he has offered to remain available to support the Board of Directors where necessary”, said Mr. Vern Gill, President of the Federation.

As he transitions to a more leisurely pace of life, the Board of Directors extends its deepest appreciation to Mr. Alexander for his invaluable contributions to the Federation and its membership.  Members are invited to join the Board of Directors and staff by extending their appreciation to Mr. Alexander for the impact that he has made during his tenure as Executive Director.
