THE COLLEGE’S ILLUMINATION LECTURE SERIES WILL HOLD ITS FIRST LECTURE ON WEDNESDAY.

The first lecture for the year 2019 in the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College’s Illumination Lecture Series: “Uprising,” will take place on Wednesday.

The event will be a special edition of the lecture titled "The World as Handiwork: Jallim Eudovic and His Art," and will feature a conversation with the acclaimed Saint Lucian sculptor, Jallim Eudovic, on his life as an artist and his work.  He will be in conversation with the Chair of the Illumination Committee, Mr. Vladimir Lucien.

The “Uprising: Illumination Lecture Series” began in February 2018 to encourage research and to provide a platform for experts in varied fields to share their knowledge and expertise with the wider community. Previous presenters include Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Dr. Winston Phulgence and Anant Argawal, a Professor at MIT. The lectures span a range of topics from sports to language acquisition to fire safety.

The lecture will be held on Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Library Reading Room (CEHI Room One), and streamed LIVE at https://www.salcctv.org/  and on SALCC’s Facebook page.  The public is invited to attend the lecture or to join the conversation online.

ABOUT JALLIM EUDOVIC

Jallim Eudovic is one of the Caribbean’s foremost and best sculptors, and workers in the plastic arts. Following in his father’s footsteps, Eudovic has blazed a trail on his own. His work has garnered attention locally, regionally and internationally, seeing him exhibiting his work as far as the United Kingdom and Europe, as well as China. His work bears a distinct and inimitable style that has come to define his pieces, allowing them to carry the weight of his distinct genius and artistry. Although still relatively young, Eudovic has been sculpting seriously for approximately eleven years, and has within a short space of time become one of the pre-eminent practitioners of the form.
