JOINT INITIATIVES WILL FOCUS ON AGRICULTURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
The Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA), and the Global Environment Facility-United Nations Development Programme Small Grants Programme (GEF-UNDP SGP) in Saint Lucia will officially mark their partnership with a signing ceremony, tomorrow.
The signing ceremony will affirm the two institutions’ intent to jointly identify opportunities for collaboration in areas that fall within the priorities of the GEF-UNDP SGP Country Programme Strategy, and the SLHTA’s programme plan for Saint Lucia. Areas include climate change, biodiversity conservation, land degradation, international waters, and chemicals and wastes, with the aim of meeting the objectives of environmental sustainability, poverty reduction and capacity development. More specifically, the areas of collaboration will include climate smart agriculture, alternative energy, pollution reduction, habitat and species conservation, and sustainable livelihoods.
The signing ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Jan. 15, at the Bay Gardens Hotel's conference room in Rodney Bay.
