THE CHANGES WERE NECESSARY IN ORDER TO ATTAIN ISPS STATUS.

Recently, the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) embarked on a rehabilitation project on the Soufriere jetties in an effort to enhance the quality of service delivery and infrastructural safety.

“The changes were necessary in an effort to attain ISPS (International Ships and Port Facility Code) status.

“Soufriere is one step closer to being ISPS compliant following the recently held training exercises and these renovations,” said Dock Supervisor, Lennox Perpie.

Boat and Dock Attendant, Carter Emmanuel, said: “I am pleased with this accomplishment. I would like to thank management and my colleagues for making this possible.”
The scope of work undertaken included the installation of solar energized security lights, the building of additional safety signs, the renovation of cleats and the relocation of a security booth at the port’s Boardwalk Jetty.

Local Boat Operator, Anthony Calixte welcomed the changes.

“We need to keep our visitors safe when they come to Soufriere, he said. “I am always happy when I see things evolve, because it is good to improve and keep up with the times.”
