Parliamentary Representative Hon. Dr. Desmond Long says the projects will provide much needed job opportunities in his constituency
Parliamentary Representative for Anse La Raye/Canaries, Hon. Dr. Desmond Long, has welcomed the announcement of two major tourism related investments in his constituency.

In the 2014/2015 Budget Statement, Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony announced two proposed private developments near Canaries.

The first is the Dolphin Cove at Anse Jambette which will provide a sanctuary for dolphins and villa accommodation and other visitor amenities.

The second planned development will be located at Anse Mahaut, near Belvedere and will be a plantation style ecologically friendly development.  This will be pursued by the UK based, Boka Group.

Dr. Long says these announcements were received with great excitement and anticipation by the people of Anse La Raye/Canaries.

"I welcome these developments as they will provide new opportunities to the people on the West Coast, particularly my constituency.  There is an unemployment situation in Anse La Raye / Canaries that we cannot ignore. Undoubtedly, these developments provide job opportunities that will help better the lives of the people.

I look forward to the construction phase, as the Boka Group has expressed a strong desire to engage the skills and manpower of the local community. I really do hope these developments take place."

The Parliamentary Representative says he is pleased that the Government has pledged to facilitate these developments as much as possible to ensure they begin at the soonest.
