Water supply suspended today
Wednesday, June 17, 2015
The suspension will facilitate the installation of a dual-level floating pump. The water supply is expected be restored 24 to 48 hours following completion of the pump installation.

The water supply to the north of the island will be suspended today, June 17, to allow the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) to install a dual-level floating pump at the John Compton Dam reservoir.

The supply will be suspended from 6 am until the pump work is completed.

The pump will enable WASCO to access to a column of water in the reservoir which cannot be accessed without the floating pump, due to the siltation in the lower level outlet in the dam.

WASCO said the intervention is necessary, as the water level in the reservoir has reached the point to trigger that intervention.

The pump will only be activated if the first column of water is used up, and access to the second column is required. Along with this intervention, WASCO will also undertake repairs to the 24 inch raw water line.

Areas that will experience an interruption in the water supply are: Ciceron, Morne Fortune, Sarrot , Marc, Bexon, Cul de Sac, La Croix Maingot, Ti Colon, Coolie Town, Marigot, Roseau, Jacmel, Vanard, Millet, Castries city and environs, Entrepot, Marchand and environs, Lastic Hill, Waterworks, Ravine Chabot, Bocage, Morne du Don, Agards, Carellie, Ti Rocher, Forestierre, La Pansee, Sans Soucis, Vigie, La Clery, Sunny Acres, Vide Bouteille, Choc, Balata, Almondale, Union through to Grande Riviere, Piat, the lower Monier area, Marisule, Bois d'Orange, Monchy, Rodney Bay, Reduit, Rodney Heights, Caye Mange, Lafeuille, Gros Islet and environs up to Cap Estate.

Although the water supply will be restored on completion of the work, not all customers will have their supply restored immediately. Customers at the extreme ends of the network and at high elevations will receive their supply within 48 hours of the reopening. WASCO therefore advises all customers to store water in order to alleviate any discomfort which may be experienced.

WASCO apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause as it tries to cope with the continuing drought.
