Advertisement for Accountant
The Youth Economy Agency (YEA) is seeking an Accountant to provide exceptional financial support by managing the daily accounting tasks of the Agency. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining an effective accounting system, utilising standard accounting procedures that will ensure full accountability for the funds of the YEA. Additionally, the Accountant will ensure that the day-to-day financial management functions are carried out appropriately and efficiently.
Deadline for submission is Monday 30th January, 2023 at 4:30 pm.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Establish procedure and ensure that the agreed procedures are adhered to in the receipt, disbursement and management of funds;
- Maintain an effective accounting system, utilising standard accounting procedures for full accountability of the YEA;
- Coordinate preparation of financial reports;
- Prepare and provide all financial documentation and reports requested by the Accountant General, Ministry of Finance and other external auditors; and
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
- Five (5) or more years’ relevant work experience in a senior role in an accounts department;
- Completed ACCA Level II or CAT;
- A Bachelor’s Degree or substantial prior management experience and responsibility in fields related to Accounting, Finance or a related field;
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations;
- Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and best practices;
- Possess knowledge regarding the Government of Saint Lucia Finance Administration Act and Finance Regulations; and
- Exceptional organizational, management, problem-solving, networking, and analytical skills.
