MILLENNIUM HIGHWAY AND WEST COAST ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
VACANCY NOTICE
Applications are invited from suitable qualified persons for appointment to the post of CLERK of WORKS – Project Management Unit for the Millennium Highway and the West Coast Road Reconstruction Project.
- RELATIONSHIP AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Clerk of Works (CW) will report to the Project Coordinator, PMU or an officer designated, and will be assigned exclusively to the project.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLERK OF WORKS
- Conduct periodic inspection of the works as in keeping with the Contractor’s project schedule, namely that of the completion of milestone tasks, and as the CW shall consider necessary to verify that the works are being executed in accordance with the Conditions of the Agreement, and that the quality of materials and workmanship are in accordance with standard specifications and good engineering practices.
- Assessment of claims for direct loss and expense as verified by the Engineering Supervision Consultant and negotiate any settlement with the contractor on the behalf of the GOSL in consultation with the Consulting Engineer.
- Verification of measurement of works as completed by the contractor as executed where provisional or approximate bills of quantities are provided.
- To visit the site, measure and evaluate all the Contractor’s claims.
- Assist with the process of Project Cost Control with the completion of measurements and evaluation of authorised variations.
- Re-measurement of provisional sections of works which were not sufficiently determined and measured on the completion of the first formal inspection.
- To monitor the Contractor’s and any of his sub-contractor’s work performance in consultation with the GOSL Engineering Supervision Consultant and assist in the completion of cash flow forecasts.
- To note any delays which would affect the agreed completion date and make the necessary recommendations which would mitigate any request for extensions of time.
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of a certificate on Practical Completion of Works together with a ‘Defects List’ and follow-up the completion of defects by the Contractor prior the issuance of the final account.
- The re-measurement of the works on completion of the project to facilitate the agreement of the final account with the Contractor and issue the Penultimate Certificate in consultation with the Engineering Supervision Consultant.
- TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT
The duration of the assignment is expected to be for a period of eighteen (18) months.
- QUALIFICATIONS
Prospective candidates should have a minimum of the following qualifications:
- An Associate Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent and a minimum of eight years of suitable experience in construction, engineering design and supervision, including project implementation.
Applications should be made on the prescribed Government application forms along with certified copies of documents pertaining to qualifications, plus two (2) recent references.
