VACANCY
The National Insurance Corporation is seeking to fill the post of Data Analyst in the Computer department.
Summary of duties:
To lead the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data in support of evidence-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the analysis of large and varied datasets to identify trends, patterns and anomalies.
- Design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards and scorecards.
- Perform and oversee data validation, normalisation and cleansing to ensure datasets are accurate, complete and fit for purpose.
- Apply and reinforce NIC's data governance, data management and data privacy policies
- Partner with IT and business units to identify, define and refine key performance indicators.
- Lead internal capacity-building in data literacy by coaching, training, and documentation.
- Monitor emerging data and analytics practices (cloud BI, AI/ML, data engineering) and recommend improvements aligned with NIC's strategic objectives
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Applied Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in Applied Analytics, Data Science, Statistics or a related discipline preferred.
- At least three (3) years' experience in data analysis, business intelligence or a closely related role, including measurable exposure to senior or executive stakeholders.
- Experience with forecasting, optimisation, segmentation or other quantitative modelling techniques.
- Relevant product or professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, DAMA-CDMP, or equivalent) would be an asset.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of data analysis, business intelligence, forecasting, and executive reporting practices.
- Proficiency in Excel and SQL, including writing and optimising complex queries against relational databases.
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one enterprise data-visualisation tool (Tableau or Power BI), with willingness and ability to work effectively in the other.
- Practical experience designing dashboards and KPI scorecards used by senior leadership.
- Working knowledge of Python or a comparable scripting language for data manipulation, analysis or modelling.
- Working knowledge of data governance, data quality and data privacy concepts; familiarity with applicable data-protection requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex findings to senior, non-technical audiences.
