ABOUT THE SIR ARTHUR LEWIS COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, the premier tertiary learning institution in Saint Lucia and the Eastern Caribbean, was established in 1985 and named after the world-famous economist and Nobel Laureate, Sir William Arthur Lewis. The College, which is currently in transition to University status, offers a wide range of cutting-edge and globally relevant academic and technical programmes from Bachelor’s and Associate degrees to TVET and Executive and Leadership training. Our programmes are undergirded by three main pillars: Sustainability, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. These goals are in keeping with the Government of Saint Lucia’s commitment to the implementation of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals.
The College has two campuses (Main Campus at Morne Fortune, Castries and South Campus in Vieux Fort) and an Experimental Farm in Dennery. The College is governed by a Board of Governors and a Management Team led by the Principal/President and Vice Principals. The Management Team includes Deans and Programme Heads that manage the day-to-day operations of the institution, its 130 faculty members and 165 supporting staff members.

HEAD OF HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Head of Housekeeping supports the Facilities Manager in the operations and staffing of the Housekeeping Department and Grounds men across the institution. The Head of Housekeeping will be responsible for developing cleaning schedules, managing inventory, and ensuring that all cleaning equipment and supplies are in good working condition.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Management,
Business Management or Hospitality
Management
-
At least five (5) years in a supervisory role
3.Proven work experience as a Housekeeping supervisor or in a similar role
-
Knowledge in Health and safety Regulations
5.In depth knowledge of cleaning, best practices, chemical supplies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs, supervises and controls housekeeping operations and staff of the housekeeping department and Groundsmen;
Performs the duties of housekeeper when necessary;
Plans and coordinates activities of housekeeping crew, Groundsmen and ensures an inventory of stock of cleaning supplies is maintained;
Establishes standards and procedures for staff and helps implement them;
Coordinates the inspection of assigned areas to ensure standards are met and ensures that all equipment are in proper working condition;
Applies human resource management skills, such as training, scheduling and evaluating performance;
Works in close collaboration with the Office Coordinator in completing financial management tasks such as setting and adhering to a budget;
Participates in the recruitment process for housekeeping, groundsmen and recommends promotion and dismissal when necessary;
Ensures that all cleaning and maintenance equipment and supplies are in good working conditions

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The appointment will be for a period of two (2) years, with the possibility of renewal based on the College’s needs and performance.
The salary will be determined by the applicant's qualifications and in accordance with the salary scales approved by the College.
Quarters, transportation to and from work, free medical attention and medicines will not be provided. The successful applicant’s income will be liable to taxation in accordance with the local Income Tax Ordinance.
