VACANCY
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position:
JOB TITLE: Software Programmer
Main Duties
- Design, develop, test, deploy, troubleshoot and maintain modules, e-documents and business rules for the ASYCUDA World platform using the java programming language and the approved programming framework to ensure the proper functionality in meeting the needs of the organization
- Design, develop, test, deploy, troubleshoot and maintain online reports, web applications and other software systems using approved programming languages (especially java), web services, database connectivity, structured query language (SQL) and web programming technologies to present customized online information and process automation to stakeholders
- Collaborate with functional staff for the creation and coding of business rules through the sharing of institutional knowledge to ensure compliance with legislation and departmental procedures

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A Master Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related field and at least one (1) year experience in programming and maintaining software systems or
- A Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related field and at least two (2) years’ experience in programming and maintaining software systems
- Advanced knowledge of the Java programming language
- Intermediate knowledge of structured query language (SQL)
- Intermediate knowledge of Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
- Intermediate knowledge of web programming technologies
- Basic knowledge of web servers
- Basic knowledge of the Linux and Windows operating systems
- Basic knowledge of business process management, organisational and project management skills.
- Basic knowledge of software development methodologies including the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Ability to effectively develop and maintain working relationships with team members and other stakeholders.
- Intermediate oral and written communication and listening skills.
- Basic presentation and training skills.
- Basic negotiation and mediation skills.
- Ability to maintain integrity, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy in the conduct of
duties.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgement in the execution of duties.
