JOB TITLE:             Southern Services Engineer                      

DEPARTMENT:     Operations

REPORTS TO:        Senior Manager - Operations 

Position Objective:

To exceed set performance standards for quality water and wastewater services in the South including construction, maintenance, repair and inspection of facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage, direct and organize the water and wastewater division activities in the South including construction, maintenance, repair and inspection of facilities and associated equipment;
• Manage maintenance activities for raw water storage and conveyance, treatment facilities, treated water pump stations and reservoirs, sewerage and facilities and grounds maintenance administration;
• Develop a preventative maintenance program including tasks to be performed, scheduling and tracking system that ensures a high level of operational reliability and maintain facilities in a clean and orderly condition in conjunction with the relevant Division Manager;
• Direct, oversee and participate in the development of a monthly maintenance work plan; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures;
• Prepare the annual and monthly Capital and Maintenance budget; assist in the budget implementation and cost estimates.  Participate in the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing; equipment, materials and supplies; administer the approved budget;
• Participate in the appointment of staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures; recommend employee terminations.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering, including hydraulics of pressurized water systems;
• Ability to maintain and repair water and wastewater facilities and storage, conveyance and distribution systems;
• Ability to organize, direct and implement a comprehensive water and wastewater system maintenance;
• Excellent written, oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to build trust, credibility and effective working relationships with all levels of staff within the organization and with external stakeholders;

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: - A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering;

Experience: - At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in water utility maintenance, facility maintenance or construction supervision.
