Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the post of TOURISM OFFICER I, in the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries.
A. RELATIONSHIPS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Under the general supervision of the Director of Product Development, provides research, analytical and technical support for the Ministry’s facilitation of Tourism development.
2. Works under the direction of and reports to the Director of Product Development.
3. Required to respond whenever necessary to the Permanent Secretary or any other duly authorized officer, on matters related to work in progress.
B. DUTIES AND TASKS
1. Collects, compiles and analyzes destination tourism statistics and apprises policymakers of the performance of the sector on the basis of systematic appraisal of the performance criteria.
2. Prepares quarterly technical reports and carries out surveys of the tourism sector.
3. Prepares proposals to funding agencies for projects to be undertaken by the Ministry.
4. Prepares research reports and analyses which will provide concrete and measurable indicators on the performance of the tourism sector.
5. Maintains an inventory of approved tourism projects, products, developments and businesses operating within the tourism sector.
6. Conducts periodic research to determine the performance and economic contribution of the various sectors operating within the tourism industry.
7. Prepares technical reports on global and regional trends and developments in tourism sector.
8. Collaborates with local, regional and international tourism organizations on issues related to tourism.
9. Represents the Ministry at meetings, work groups and committees at a national, regional and international level.
10. Performs any other related duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
C. CONDITIONS
1. Accommodation is provided for in a general administrative office.
2. Works along with other administrative and professional staff.
3. Institutional support is provided through appropriate Civil Service Rules and Regulations, Statutory instruments and departmental guidelines.
4. Salary will be in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated by Government in the Estimates of Expenditure/collective Agreements or Employee Contract.
5. The officer must avail himself/herself for personal development and career advancement through established orientation and in-service training.
6. This post is not-pensionable.

F. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or related field plus two (2) years experience in a post at Grade 10 and above.
OR
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or related field plus 3 years post qualifying experience.
Experience in the area of Statistics and research is critical.
G. SALARY
Salary is at the rate of $54,163.24 per annum (Grade 12, Step 1)
