Saint Lucia Carnival 2015 culminated on July 21 with the annual two-day Parade of the Bands moving south along the John Compton Highway, and through the city circuit.
A total of nine bands participated. The bands were judged on several categories, including portrayal, design, craftsmanship and presentation.
Tribe of Twel nabbed the first place prize for Band of the Year with its portrayal "Amerindia: Legacy of the Aztecs." Red Unlimited was awarded the second place prize with its portrayal of "YinYang: Balance 'n' Harmony while Royalites Extreme placed third with "Beneath It All."
Tribe of Twel also took home the first place prize in the categories of Best Design, Best Portrayal of Theme and Section of the Year.
The band also won King and Queen of the Bands with its portrayal of "Quetzalacoatl" and "Xochiquetzal". Red Unlimited's "National Tresure" and "Blazing Red" nabbed the second place spots in both categories.
The Power and Groovy Soca Monarch results are as follows. The first to third place winners of Power Soca Monarch are Ricky T with "Perfect Storm", Sir Lance a Lot with "Family" and Ezra d'Funmachine with "Rush". The first to third place winners of Groovy Soca Monarch are Arthur with "I am West Indian", Sedale with "Neighbour", and Sir Lance a Lot with "Hooray".
Panorama, held at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds on Friday, July 17, resulted in Pantime nabbing the first place spot, Babonneau Steel Orchestra coming in at a close second and Pantastic Muzik coming in third.
Walleigh was crowned Calypso Monarch on July 18, out of nine other calypsonians vying for the title. The runners up were Cupid, who came in second and Invader who took the third place prize.
