The Cultural Development Foundation will deliver the art of poetry to the masses through the medium of live television.
The CDF will host a live poetry reading this Wednesday, as part of the calendar of events of the National Arts Festival.
"Poetry Live" is the final activity held in observance of the festival. It will be delivered through the medium of live television.
Drenia Frederick, Director of Events and Production at the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), said the event will include a live broadcast of a lecture, discussions and poetry readings from notable artistes.
“What we have lined up is actually really an evening with the poets. We’ve invited a guest poet--the Jamaican Laureate Mervyn Morris. He will recite two original pieces and deliver a lecture on the craft of poetry. Invited writers and other artistes will be part of the live audience who will interface with him.
"In addition, we have readings with him from the book 'Sent Licie' which is produced by the CDF in collaboration with Saint Lucian writers.”
The event will encompass readings of an eclectic collection of works and will be attended by young and more seasoned poets like John Robert Lee and Ras Isley.
"We are looking forward to an evening of high energy, and engagement of our audience. We’re also inviting the public to take part, tune in to NTN and be part of something historical,” Ms. Frederick said.
Poetry Live will be broadcast on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. on the National Television Network. The two-hour long event is part of the CDF's National Arts Festival Art Reach showcase.
