THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR’S OBSERVANCE IS “PHARMACISTS DEVELOPING RESILIENT AND SUSTAINABLE HEALTH SYSTEMS FOR ALL”

Commonwealth Pharmacy Day is celebrated on June 16th every year to commemorate the inaugural meeting held in 1969 that led to the formation of the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association to celebrate and promote the pharmacy profession.

The theme for this year’s observance is “Pharmacists developing resilient and sustainable health systems for all”

Today the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs acknowledges the pivotal role of pharmacists and celebrate the incredible contributions of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and supportive staff in developing resilient and sustainable health systems for all.

The dedication and tireless efforts of pharmacists have not only enhanced the quality of healthcare but also ensured that it remains accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances with our overall goal of improving patient outcomes.

In recent years, we have faced challenges, from global pandemics to supply chain disruptions. Through it all, Pharmacists have demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. Your expertise in managing medications, advising patients, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals has been instrumental in navigating these crises. Your ability to innovate and find

solutions in the face of adversity has strengthened our healthcare system and showcased the indispensable value of pharmacists.

As we look towards the future and the importance of sustainable health systems cannot be overstated. Pharmacists, we are at the forefront of this mission, in promoting rational drug use, reducing waste, and advocating for environmentally friendly practices are crucial steps toward a more sustainable healthcare system.

On this Commonwealth Pharmacy Day, the Ministry of Health Wellness and Elderly Affairs appreciates your compassion, professionalism, and dedication. You are often the first point of contact for patients seeking medical advice, and your impact on their lives is profound. By providing accurate information, ensuring medication safety, and offering a listening ear, you make a significant difference in the health and well-being of our communities.

Let's continue to strengthen our systems, support our communities, and advance public health for a better future and thank you for your continued dedication to improving healthcare for all.

A happy Commonwealth Pharmacy Day to all Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and supportive staff from the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs.
