Students performed the worst in Mathematics, and best in the subject of Physical Education and Sports.

The results for the Caribbean Secondary School Education Certificate Examinations are in.

The 2014 overall pass rate at the general, and technical proficiency levels is 71.38 percent—a 3.75 percent increase from 2013. Students performed the worst in Mathematics, and best in the subject of Physical Education and Sports.

The top four best performing schools are Saint Joseph’s Convent in first place with a 99.82 percent pass rate; Saint Mary’s College and Bonne Terre Preparatory in a tie for second place with a 96.67 percent pass rate; and Leon Hess Comprehensive in third place with a 94.80 percent pass rate.

Castries Comprehensive is ranked fourth with a 90.29 percent pass rate.

Vieux Fort Comprehensive, the Seventh Day Adventist Academy, Corinth Secondary and Entrepot Secondary filled the fifth to eighth place ranks with passes at 81.67, 79.94, 77.57 and 77.34 percent respectively.

Soufriere Comprehensive is the ninth best performing school with a 69.23 percent pass rate, and Choiseul Secondary, tenth, with 68.55.

Five schools declined in performance this year, compared to 2013. The fifth ranked school, Vieux Fort Comprehensive showed a decline in its pass rate of 81.67 percent, down from 82.05 in 2013. Babonneau Secondary’s pass rate decreased to 56.90 percent this year, from 59.27 percent. Choiseul Secondary’s pass rate is 68.55 percent, a decline from 69.78; Ciceron Secondary decreased to 57.49 from 58.47; and Gros Islet Secondary recorded 38.09 percent passes, down from 39.03 percent in 2013.

The pass rates for individual subjects ranged from 50 percent at its lowest to 98.65 percent.
