BONDING WILL BE AIRED ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS ON THE NATIONAL TELEVISION NETWORK (NTN).
The Early Childhood Services Unit within the Ministry of Education has launched a new television series with a focus on strengthening parent-child relationships. The 10-part series titled “Bonding” aims to educate the public on ways to foster and fortify the crucial bond between parents and children.
One of the primary focal points of the innovative series is the enhancement of social-emotional development in children. The program delves into strategies and insights that assist parents in supporting this aspect of child growth and stresses the significance of nurturing emotional intelligence and social skills in infants.
Training Officer within the Early Childhood Services Unit, Ms. Ruth Philips Fevrier, said: “We tried to zero in on what we believe are some of the more pressing challenges. One of the areas especially in the age group from birth to eight years old is social emotional development. In order for the children to do well cognitively in the academics, they have to develop a sense of self-confidence and have self-esteem, they have to learn to share and co-regulate. So we focused on social-emotional development and child development because sometimes our expectations as parents may be too great for the age that the child is, and we have to understand that things happen in progression.”
The initiative not only demonstrates the commitment of the Ministry of Education and the Early Childhood Services Unit to prioritizing the holistic growth of children, but also underscores the importance of investing in the crucial relationship between parents and their young ones.
The program promises a diverse range of topics and discussions aimed at empowering parents with practical tools and guidance to foster stronger and more fulfilling relationships with their children.
The series will be aired on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the National Television Network (NTN), as well as other television and radio stations, ensuring widespread accessibility for viewers across the country.
Bonding premieres Jan 11. The mini-series was produced by Dove Productions with funding support from UNICEF.
