EDRMS is designed to manage the integrity and security of information and will be used to automate business processes within government.
The Government of Saint Lucia initiated Phase III of the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) Project on Tuesday.
The EDRMS is a software application designed to manage a range of digital information and combines both document management and records management functionalities.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of the Public Service, Information and Broadcasting, Philip Dalsou, said the EDRMS will be used to automate business processes and will be designed to manage the integrity and security of information within government.
"We expect the EDRMS to improve operational efficiencies, increase service delivery and reduce transaction costs, improve document confidentiality and ntegrity, and enhance government accountability," Mr. Dalsou said.
Phase II of the project included systems development, ICT equipment assessment, and project sensitization in five pilot ministries and agencies.
Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) His Excellency James Chang, handed over a cheque of EC$349,466.00 which will help implement Phase III of the project.
"The archive module (Phase III) will help in reducing the document processing time for the related staff. It will also improve the organisations’ initial internal and external communication time and reduce the risk of government critical information loss," he said.
Phase III is the archiving module of the project. The total cost of the project is about EC$4.8 million.
