MISS RAMBALLY SAID THE PUBLICATION IS AN EXPRESSION OF GRATITUDE TO SAINT LUCIA.
Menissa Rambally, former Permanent Representative of Saint Lucia to the United Nations, recently launched a book titled “Saint Lucia, the United Nations Journey 1979 – 2016.” The launch coincided with the upcoming celebration of the Nobel Laureate Week.
Miss Rambally said the publication is an expression of gratitude to Saint Lucia for having had the privilege to serve the nation, adding that the book as a snapshot of Saint Lucia’s history.
“In this coffee table book, I pay homage through a collection of photography and quotations of distinguished Saint Lucians who left their mark in the great halls of the United Nations and by extension, who have left their mark on the landscape of the international community,” she said. “Our reality is that we are a small nation, but the evidence of our collective contribution could never be measured by our size or our population.”
Rambally expressed her admiration for former Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations His Excellency Sir Julian Robert Hunte, for his contribution to Saint Lucia.
“He served with distinction and his diplomatic acumen during his service propelled him and Saint Lucia to the pinnacle of that institution that represents all that the world can be, and serving as the 58th president of United Nations during 2003-2004 was one of the very proud moments during our history. Today, I salute him and use the opportunity to indicate that he is certainly one of the luminaries of Saint Lucia.”
The book launch was held at the Finance Administrative Centre on Jan. 15. The event was attended by Chair of the Nobel Laureatte Committee, Dame Pearlette Louisy, Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet, and other dignitaries.
