THE PROJECTS ARE CRITICAL TO SAINT LUCIA’S ECONOMIC GROWTH, PRIME MINISTER SAYS.
Heads of Government met earlier this week to discuss the implementation of major capital projects.
Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet said the realization of these projects are of the utmost importance.
“We held a joint meeting with all the government ministries and agencies that will assist us in achieving this objective as we continue the work of building a new and prosperous Saint Lucia,” he said. “A few of the major projects which Saint Lucians can look forward to are: the full commissioning of the Owen King EU Hospital; the St Jude Hospital reconstruction project; the islandwide road rehabilitation project and other key infrastructure projects; new hotel developments in Cap Estate, Choc, Canelles, Choiseul, Vieux Fort and Castries; the continuation of the rehabilitation of schools and the construction of new school wings; the new Hewanorra International Airport; improvements to Port Castries along with preparations for the establishment of a cruise homeport in Vieux Fort; and the new Police Headquarters in Castries.” Prime Minister Chastanet said the projects are all critical in setting the country on a sustainable path of economic growth, while creating business and employment opportunities.
Present at the meeting were the ministries of Health and Wellness, Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure and Physical Planning, along with Invest Saint Lucia, NIC, the Delivery Unit, the Development Control Authority, SLASPA and CIP.
