THE GOVERNMENT OF SAINT LUCIA HAS INVESTED $1.2M IN GYM FACILITIES FOR ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT.

Member of Parliament for Gros Islet and Minister for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Kenson Casimir, has highlighted the support provided by the Government of Saint Lucia to national athletes.

One of the significant achievements the minister highlighted was government’s investment of close to $700,000 in semi-professional cricket, which allows semi-professional cricket league players to receive compensation for their efforts. The Youth and Sports minister also underscored additional benefits for athletes such as a $1.2 million investment in well-equipped gym facilities for strength training and the development of physical endurance.

Minister Casimir noted that the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground now boasts a well-equipped gym that athletes can utilize for their fitness routines, while a ribbon-cutting ceremony will soon be held to officially open a brand new gym at the Mindoo Phillip Park.
