The Government of Saint Lucia will be hosting the second Accountability Workshop of the Saint Lucia National Chapter of the Caribbean Growth Forum (CGF), tomorrow.
The workshop will assess the progress made in the implementation of various activities for the period Feb. 15 to Nov. 15.
Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony is expected to address the participants. In addition, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment of Jamaica, the Hon. Damion Crawford will speak on the topic “The Talent Class and Creative Industries: Options for the Caribbean.”
The Caribbean Growth Forum (CGF) initiative was designed to identify policies and activities aimed at inducing growth and creating jobs in the Caribbean region through analytical work, knowledge exchange and inclusive dialogue, facilitated by public-private dialogue around issues central to private sector development and growth. The forum brings a non-traditional approach to the greatest challenge currently faced by the region – creating sustainable and inclusive growth.
The Caribbean Growth Forum Initiative was rolled out in two phases. Phase One involved the identification and formulation of policies and activities and Phase Two, the implementation of policy actions and their internal and external monitoring.
At this accountability workshop the Government is expected to report on the progress it has made in meeting the commitments settled upon at the start of the CGF particularly in the area of enhancing internet and ICT-related services and infrastructure, as well as boosting productivity.
The workshop is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Saint James’s Club Morgan Bay in Choc, Castries.
The CGF initiative is supported by Compete Caribbean, the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the World Bank (WB), and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in collaboration with the United Kingdom Agency for International Development (DFID) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
