A government initiative will give children under 12 the chance to enjoy the biggest party in sport.

The Government of St. Lucia, in partnership with the Limacol Caribbean Premier League,  has fantastic news for young cricket fans.

Children under the age of 12 will receive free access to the Beausejour Cricket Grounds for the first home game of the St. Lucia Zouks against the Barbados Tridents on Thursday, July 31.

The initiative will allow the next generation of cricketers to watch their heroes in action, with global superstars Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard, Roelof van der Merwe and Dwayne Smith all set to be on show.

At 8 p.m. Thursday, the Zouks face a rematch against the Barbados Tridents, before taking on the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steels on Saturday at 4 p.m., and the Antigua Hawksbills on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Minister for Youth Development and Sports, the Hon. Shawn Edward, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer young St. Lucians the opportunity to watch the Zouks opening home game free of charge. The CPL is a fantastic, vibrant tournament and hopefully this will help inspire the next generation of St. Lucian cricketers.”

Limacol Caribbean Premier League CEO, Damien O’Donohoe, said that it is important for the CPL to be involved in the future of West Indies cricket.

“When the Minister came to us with this initiative we were on board straight away. Fans can be guaranteed thrilling cricket and a great atmosphere, so I’d urge everybody to show their support at the three games.”

All children must be present at the stadium box office on match day to redeem their ticket. They will then be directed to their designated stand.

The Limacol Caribbean Premier League runs from July 11 to August 16, with 30 matches taking place over 37 days.

The final week of the tournament in St Kitts and Nevis will host Beefy’s Bash—an all-star charity match featuring Sir Ian Botham, Brian Lara and Piers Morgan, as well as a concert by hip-hop megastar, Rick Ross.
